A very friendly group with a shared interest in plants and gardens

Monthly Archives: June 2018

After our splendid outing to West Dean Gardens, the Cathedral & Bishops Palace Gardens at Chichester last Friday 22nd June  another hugely successful event, our Evening Show, was held yesterday at Avonway.

Our Chairman is to be congratulated for organising the day out to West Dean Gardens enjoyed by 48 members and friends of the Society. A further visit to West Dean is to be thoroughly reecommended for those seeking an environment in completely unspoilt surroundings.

Credit must go to our Show Secretary and exhibitors for our Evening Show that produced amazing show bench exhibits from extremely challenging growing conditions this year. The full results appear here and can also be found under Shows on the home page.           Click here for 2018 Evening Show results

This month’s talk by Andrew Hunt relating to the on-going works and improvements to the gardens at Kingston Lacy in recent yearts was extemely informative and brilliantly put together. Andrew has been the Head Gardener for seven of his tewnty years working at this major National Trust venue right on our door-step, so easily reached by car for most of us in less than an hour. Our Publicity Officer’s report will be appear on the website within a few days.

The Society will now be taking its usual summer break until we meet again for the start of our two autumn lectures that begin  on  Monday September 24th at Avonway.

Full information about the Society and how to join us can be found by browsing through the pages on this website or by contacting any of the Society officers. We are all passionate about making the Society events entertaining and enjoyable as was clearly demonstrated on our Outing and at last night’s Evening Show.
